This Pergola was rebuilt on the side of the house next to the clients pool in Valley Village. There was extensive termite and water damage to the upper part of the original structure. I was able to rebuild it while keeping the columns (which were not damaged)-and adding three exterior fans to cool the space in the summer.  I added more laths on the top so that there would be more protection from the sun as well.   You should always use redwood or cedar as a building material out west to protect from termites and water damage.

This was built off the side of a house in Sherman Oaks.  The best part about a Pergola is that it protects you from the California sun that gets so hot in the Valley.
